Farm safety

Farmer Sam takes great pride in his attention to guest safety. Equipment and activities are monitored and regularly inspected. However, Farmer Sam is not intended to be the only supervisor of guests, especially children. We ask you observe all farm restrictions and safety instructions and monitor your family members at all times.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all our farm guests, please respect the following rules:

Guest safety:

Field Trips at Farmer Sam's is not responsible for personal accidents that occur while on the farm property. By entering onto the farm property, you are assuming liability and responsibility for the safety of yourself and those accompanying you, including minors. It is also assumed that those entering onto the property are carriers of their own health insurance policies.

Age policy:

Anyone 18 and younger must be accompanied by a paying adult (age 18 years+) to enter the farm. Activities are not necessarily supervised. Your safety is important to us, and we are sure you will have fun playing alongside your children as well!

Pets:

Pets are not allowed onto the farm for the safety of other guests and farm animals on the property. Per ADA guidelines, ONLY service animals are allowed. This does NOT include support/companion animals, animals in strollers, or being carried. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding of our farm.

Farm animals:

Although we are excited for you to meet our farm animals, please remember we are not a petting zoo. The animals are friendly but also unpredictable. We recommend children and adults do not reach over or through our animal fences without proper supervision. Hand-sanitizing stations and hand-washing sinks are available in the restrooms.

Smoking & alcohol:

For the safety of everyone, smoking (including e-cigarettes and vaping) and alcohol is prohibited throughout the farm.

Allergies:

Please be aware of the possibility of farm animal, hay/straw, corn, and other environmental-related allergy exposures while on the farm.

First aid:

Limited basic assistance is offered as a convenience to our guests while on the farm. It is not intended to replace professional medical care. Personal medical devices such as inhalers and epi-pens are recommended to be on people (including within field trips) at all times, as there may be environmental triggers on the farm. These devices are not available from first aid. Incidents will be documented on an incident report, but that is NOT intended as any type of agreement between parties. Farmer Sam reserves the right to contact additional professional medical services, such as 911, as determined necessary.

Weather:

If inclement weather is forecast, current guests will be advised to seek shelter and the farm reserves the right to close as deemed necessary for safety. There is not a guarantee of refunds for rain. Paying admission to the farm with questionable weather is at your own risk.

Working farm:

Please advise children to never approach working farm equipment. The farm and its private entrance are not accessible to the public without invitation or instruction from Farmer Sam.

Handicap access:

Field Trips at Farmer Sam's offers a packed gravel walking path in the activity area, which may be gently sloping in some areas. Handicap accessible restrooms are available inside the Barn.

Parking:

In the interest of saving space, for field trips we offer parking for busses only

Lost children:

Field Trips at Farmer Sam's is aware of the possibility of children wandering away from their party. Although supervision is the guardian's and teacher's responsibility, the farm will respond quickly when a child is missing from their group. Please inform children where to meet you if they get lost. Teachers are expected to have an initial and final child count before arrival and departure. We appreciate your cooperation.

Lost and found Items:

We are not responsible for lost or stolen personal items, and are unable to search for items over the phone, nor mail them back to you. Found items may still be available for a short time after your trip has concluded.
